The town of Shinyanga is about twenty miles South West from Mwadui. We used to go there on the bus, often me and my brother would be up front with the driver. There were only dirt roads and the ride was exhilarating to say the least. During the wet season flash floods were not uncommon as on occasions we had up to six inches [150mm] of rain at a time. I always found Shinyanga an exciting place with lots going on, the noise, the smells, & the constant movement. The market was a must for fresh fruit and all things African
That's Steve [Buddy] Hide haggling in the market. It was not just the market that we went to
Shinyanga for there was also the Poll Tax to pay, that's mum paying it above.
