The whole of Mwadui had a make-over for the visit by HRH Princess Margaret, and the big day was declared a holiday for all employees.

Myself with my younger brother, along with our neighbours girl Gina waiting by the foundation stone to be tapped by HRH The Princess Margaret.

HRH The Princess Margaret duly arrived from Mwadui airport in a maroon Mercedes Benz and taps the four corners of the foundation stone for the new Church. A sound system was installed but she never uttered a word.

Her Royal Highness the Princess Margaret had a tour of Tanganyika from the 8th through 18th October 1956 starting in Dar-es-Salaam.

From there she flew a return flight North to Tanga on the 10th.

Then on the 12th she flew West to Mbeya and then back East to Sao Hill.

On the 13th it was North to Tabora, then Mwanza.

On Monday the 15th it was South East to Mwadui, and then onto Arusha.

Finally on the 18th she flew North to Nairobi via Moshi.
