Captain Macmillan
Captain Macmillan was according to Guest an old Etonian & the son of a Bishop serving in the Royal Artillery, Along with Captain Freddie Guest he was part of the General's staff at Fortress HQ.
Capt Macmillan approached the GOC Maj-Gen Maltby for permission to escape which was granted along with three other B.H.Q staff officers.31 As the surrender order went out Peter left Battlebox HQ with Guest & came down to Queens Road, crossing over to go to the Pedder building where he took Guest up to Chan's office. They then went with Chan to meet the senior British officers at the Kings theatre in Queens Road. Making their way to Aberdeen by car the party boarded HMS Cornflower's launch and were shot up escaping from Aberdeen.

Peter spent 18 months in the RAF from 1933 before joining the Army on 15th July 1935 as 2nd Lt TA. 65427
