Mr Charles Edwin [Ted] Ross of the Ministry of information Hong Kong was David MacDougall's assistant and they escaped from Aberdeen in HMS Cornflower's motor launch under heavy machine gun and mortar fire before joining up with the 2nd MTB Flotilla on the South West of Ap Lei Chau Island.

Ted supplied a detailed thirty page account of the events in Hong Kong and subsequent escape.
